NEVER FORGET YOUR PARENTS

Lest you forget everything, never forget your parents.

Never forget that their obligations are innumerable.

Worshipped many deities on earth they have, to beget you,

So never hurt their pious hearts with your harshness.

Remaining hungry they themselves, fed you and raised you,

Do not spit poison, on those who have given you nectar.

They have fulfilled all your desires, and loved you deeply,

Fulfill all their wishes, never forget to do this.

Even if you earn millions and your parents are not made happy,

Never forget that without serving them millions are like ashes.

You want your children to serve you, become a child and serve,

What you do is what you get, never forget this justice.

They slept in the wet, but let you sleep in the dry,

Never forget the mother’s loving eyes, and let not tears come to them.

Lovingly flowers they have strewn, along your path,

Never become a thorn in the path of those who guided you.

You can buy anything with wealth,

but you won’t be able to buy parents.

At all times their feet so pure, never forget to love them.

The infinite strength of God is latent within you. Firmly make good sankalps. Develop your great strength by regularly doing asanas, pranayamas, dhyana, and satsang. Make your parents, family, caste, and nation proud of you, and awaken your inner strength to attain liberation. Enthusiastically keep going. Never uselessly waste time. Do not fall into the mud of bad company. Awaken your Kundilini Shakti. Then it will become just as innate for a sunflower to blossom when the sun shines, as it is  to become great. To always maintain self-control and remain cheerful is the greatest devotion to God.

SAAJ USIKA HAI JO BAJANA JANTA HAI.                  (Music belongs to he who knows how to play)

GEET USIKA HAI JO GANA JANTA HAI.                    (Song belongs to he who knows how to sing)

JIVAN USIKA HAI JO JINA JANTA HAI.                         (Life belongs to he who knows how to live)

PARMATMA USIKA HAI JO PANA JANTA HAI.            (Parmatma belongs to he who knows how to attain Him)

Ø       Wake up early every morning. Sit up in your bed and do japa of the mantra given to you by Sadguru. Make good resolutions. Look at both of your palms and then leave your bed. Pay obeisances to your parents. Make the firm determination to live a noble life. Do not act or laugh in a way that your teachers become angry with you. Do your homework carefully and with concentration. Do not make unnecessary expenses.

Ø       Perform works and acts in such a way that your parents, Sadguru, other respected elders, etc., remain pleased with you.

Ø       Attain Self-realization and give salvation to 21 generations of your family.

Ø       Those girls and boys who believe in God, who are not lazy or negligent and remain busy in performing good deeds, who meticulously follow the commands of the scriptures and Sadguru, perform good works that make their parents proud. They are eager to live a radiant life, live a long life. Such fortunate children live to be Chiranjivi.

Ø       Those children who do not sit up straight, are unnecessarily fidgety, bite their nails, do not wash their hands and mouth after meals, remain unclean, swear, listen to slander, consume harmful things like tea, coffee and tobacco do not live a long life.

Ø       Never read late at night or at Trikal Sandhya time. If you study after waking up early in the morning and meditate on Lord Shiva, Ganpati, and Goddess Saraswati for a while, it will be very beneficial.

Ø       Those who want to live a glorious and tejasvi life should not watch TV or movies that harm eyesight and moral character.

Ø       The lifespan of those who sleep with their heads facing north or west is reduced. The lifespan of those who sleep with their heads facing south or east increases.

Ø       Never overeat at night and do not overfeed others either. Eating many varieties of food is unhealthy.

Ø       When eating, your feet should be washed and wet. However, your feet should never be wet when you go to bed at night.

Ø       Eating a meal whilst cheerfully remembering God transforms the food into Prasad. Never wear wet clothes. Never bathe completely naked. Never wear another person’s clothes or shoes.

Ø       Never talk when you do japa, walk, eat, urinate, defecate, or perform a yagna.

Ø       Remembering God before going to sleep transforms your sleep into Yoga Nidra.

Ø       The student who possesses control over his mind and senses, regularly studies without fear and worry, is always successful.

Ø       He who has peace of mind, goodwill towards all in his heart, subdues his vasanas, has control over his senses, reads sat sahitya (good literature), and believes that God is witness to all his actions can only be considered a true student.

Ø       Never say such bitter or harsh words that will hurt others.

Ø       The key to a long and tejasvi life is to regularly do asanas, pranayamas, meditation, selfless service and association of saints.

Ø       In reality only he who possesses strong determination is truly intelligent. Firm determination is a strong boost for the body. The body gains strength from it and a person acquires the enthusiasm to perform exceptional work. Through strong determination people on their deathbeds have been seen to recover and perform amazing works.

Ø       Frequently remember, “I am the child of Rishis and Munis. I have taken birth in the lineage of the great strongly determined Bhisma. The blood of the brave and highly determined King Bhagiratha who brought the River Ganges on earth runs through my veins. The place where even the Gods are eager to take birth, the land of Lord Rama’s and Krishna’s incarnations is where I have been born… Then why should I feel lowly and dejected? Sooner or later, I can accomplish anything I want. Why should I feel lowly and dejected being the descendent of Rishis and Munis who have given the entire world the message of the immortality of the Atma, divine knowledge, and eternal fearlessness? I will awaken these samskaras of fearlessness. I will remain celibate.”

WHAT IS GOOD?

v       O brave student! Good character, tolerance, and education are your ornaments. Do not waste your life pursuing addictions and sensual pleasures. Save yourself from bad company and do satsang. Disobedient, stubborn, arrogant, and impolite children do not progress, therefore abandon these bad qualities. Life, knowledge, fame, and strength increase by paying obeisances to Guru and serving elders. Live a simple life. Rather than beautify your body, beautify your mind and intellect and then see how supremely beautiful you become.

v       Only if knowledge is at the tip of your tongue and money in your pocket will they be of any use. A woman of good character beautifies a home. Only by the company of satsang and people of good conduct is life dignified. Only the ideals of Hindu Sanskriti of “See God in all” and the principle of “The world is your family” can give mankind peace and happiness.

v       If wealth is lost nothing is lost. If health is lost then something is lost. If character is lost then everything is lost. Therefore become of good character. A caring and righteous person is successful in every field.

NAMASKAR: THE GATE TO A DIVINE LIFE

O student! Namaskar is an invaluable jewel of Bhartiya sanskriti. Namaskar means to greet, show respect, and pay obeisances. Namaskar is important and holds a significant place in Bhartiya sanskriti. Just as shaking hands is part of western culture, similarly putting the palms together and bowing the head is an ancient tradition of Bhartiya sanskriti. There are many different connotations and meanings to namaskar.

To do namaskar is one of the best samskaras. When you do namaskar to elders, parents, sages, and saints your ego dissolves and your inner consciousness becomes pure. You become simple and sattvic and your vanity decreases. While doing namaskar you also do Yoga Mudra.

You fold your palms together and put your fingers on your forehead. Keep your eyes half open. Your palms remain on your heart. This Mudra restrains your thoughts and controls your vrittis and checks ego. By doing this you surrender your personality and existence to faith. You earn faith. By the mudra of namaskar you expereince oneness and get absorbed with the Supreme and all your duality of opposites are resolved.

A humble person is loved by all. Namaskar is soothing like sandalwood. By namaskar both parties attain peace, happiness, and satisfaction. By becoming lighter and thinner than air one gets closer to attaining excellence and being great. This can be experienced by doing the mudra of namaskar.

When our ego yields by doing namaskar to a ‘worthy’ person, the feelings of surrender arises.

The beauty of knowledge is in humility. That what is soft, agile, and flexible never breaks. However, that what is hard, rigid, harsh, and rough breaks easily. Water can only be collected in a vessel under the tap. The vessel kept on top of the tap can never be filled with water. Namaskar is the key to make strangers your own.

Namaskar is the manifestation of simplicity, sadhu-ness, good samskaras, openness, and purity.

All religions have accepted namaskar. Christians place their hands on their chests and bow their heads. Buddhists bow their heads as well. Jains pay obeisances by bowing their heads. However, the technique of our Vedic dharma to do namaskar is the finest. The life force and tej are prevented from being dissipated by joining both palms together to form a samput, a circle. Therefore this type of pranam is very beneficial. The life force is destroyed when people shake each other’s hands. There is a strong possibility of contagious diseases being spread by shaking hands.

Namaskar is a form of submission. By it you bow down to the existence of God. You surrender to the God abiding within the hearts of one another. In the 18th chapter of the Bhagvata Gita Lord Krishna explained about surrender. There is a great significance of namaskar in ‘Navdha Bhakti’. You are able to bind God in the chains of love through namaskar. In this way namaksar is an exceptionally excellent sanskar.

TILAK: BESTOWER OF INTELLIGENCE AND SATTVIC STRENGTH

On the forehead, between the two eyebrows is the centre for thinking. Yogis call this the ‘Ajna Shakti Kendra’. It is called ‘Shiv Netra’ or ‘Kalyankari Vichar Kendra’ as well. By doing a tilak of chandan, sindoor, etc., develops knowledge and thinking power. This is why in Hindu dharma, while doing any auspicious work one does a tilak on the forehead. Millions of people have seen His Divine Holiness Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu do tilak of chandan before commencing satsang. Because women predominately live in the Kendra of emotions and faith, Rishis began the tradition of making them do tilak so that their power of understanding increases. The minds of most women remain between the Swadishtan and Manipur kendras. In these kendras, fear, emotion, and imagination are predominant. To make sure that women are not carried away with emotion and imagination, Rishis initiated the tradition for women to always do tilak so that they can benefit from this tradition by having their ‘Shiv Netra’ and thinking power develop. There are so many great women like Gargi, Ansuya, Shandili, etc. who have become well known in Hindu dharma.

Today, in some schools in our country, the power of motherhood, which is able, to give birth to great warriors, philosophers, and saints is being scolded, ridiculed, and prohibited for doing tilak. How long will Indians tolerate such tyranny? How long will Indians be the victims of such a conspiracy?

SPIRITUAL STRENGTH IS TRUE LIFE

O youth! It is the duty of every youth to develop his or her physical, intellectual, mental, and spiritual strength through self-restraint and good conduct. The lamp that has no oil cannot give out light. Similarly, the body that lacks virya, ojas, and the strength of self-restraint cannot develop the body, sense, mind and intellect in an exceptional way.

today actors and actresses who work in TV and films easily influence boys and girls. To make themselves more physically attractive they visit beauty parlours. However, they totally lack physical and spiritual strength.

Since childhood, Bal Gangadhar Tilak was an intelligent student, discerning, did not pay attention to physical appearance, and was physically very strong. He went to university wearing only the traditional Indian dress. Every morning he woke up early and did vyayam asana, puja, etc. He had a roommate named Kulkarni. Kulkarni was very fashionable and lazy. He used to spend a lot of his time trying to look good, powder his face, and spray perfume on his clothes. He would wake up only after the sun rose and thus was a poor student. He was also physically and mentally weak.

Once Kulkarni was getting ready to go to college wearing a suit, tie, shoes, a gold chain, and expensive watch. He told Bal Gangadhar to come to college with him. Bal Gangadhar told him, “Even if I leave 15 minutes after you I will still reach college before you will. I walk very fast. I don’t waste time.”

Ten minutes after Kulkarni left, Tilak got ready and left for college. Half way he saw that a group of rowdy boys had surrounded Kulkarni and were beating him so that they could steal his chain and watch. Seeing Tilak, Kulkarni pleaded with him, “Please help me!”

Before Tilak could do anything, one boy warned Tilak, “Just walk away from here quietly before you also get beaten up.”

The boy finished speaking and suddenly Tilak punched the boy so hard that he broke the boy’s jaw. Tilak alone severely beat up the four rowdies that they ran away. They didn’t even have the guts to look back. Now Kulkarni realized that he had wasted his youthfulness in trying to make his physical appearance better, by being lazy, and in maintaining bad company. Kulkarni then abandoned his hollow lifestyle and fashionable clothes, and like Tilak, made both his mind and body strong to fight for India’s independence against the British.

O YOUTH !

Consider the work at hand as puja and resolutely finish it. Fame always follows one who is unwavering in his duty. Never let work be spoiled by carelessness and stupidity. Do all work with diligence, selflessness, and enthusiasm. Never let fear come near you. Glorify your work in a princely manner. Never wait for best work, time, or person. The present time is the best time. Enthusiastically do the work at hand to the best of your ability. See God in the heart of the person whom you meet and deal with him accordingly.

The greatest person is the one standing in front of you. The work at hand that is in accordance to the scriptures is the best work. Do not perform any work that is held in contempt by God residing in your inner consciousness, and you will be ashamed of. Have firm faith that you have taken birth to perform great works. Work wholeheartedly and rid yourself of the feeling that ‘I am the doer’. Who cares if the sky collapses? Remain resolute, do not waver, and determinedly finish your work.

Increase your capacity for work. Constantly do abhyas to be established that you are the non-doer, non-enjoyer pure enlightened True Satchitananda Atma. Do not differentiate between the times of sadhana and worldly interactions. Experience God in your worldly interactions. This is the best way to improve your sadhana and worldly affairs.

OM…OM…OM…BRAVO! MY BRAVE ONE!
